The Halton Regional Police Service has run its Police Ethnic And Cultural Education Youth Leadership Program (PEACE) to promote understanding and cultural awareness among Halton- area high school students since 1. Each year, dozens of local youth are selected to participate in an in- depth, 1. HRPS Headquarters which is modelled on the Service's successful Citizen Police Academy. Working closely with members of the Halton Regional Police Service in a variety of in- class sessions and realistic scenarios, PEACE students improve their cultural proficiency, communication and leadership skills and experience all aspects of policing - from mock initial calls to the scene, through to the arrest and mock trial of the accused. The PEACE Youth Leadership Program is offered twice annually in the spring and fall to coincide with the school calendar year. Areas of Study. PEACE Youth Leadership Program participants are assigned group projects and challenges dealing with a broad spectrum of law enforcement topics and issues, including: Requirements. To be considered for the Halton Regional Police Service PEACE Youth Leadership Program, candidates must: Have an interest in policing and race relations. Be between the ages of 1. Program Completion. A graduation ceremony is held at the Halton Regional Police Service Headquarters at the end of the course.
